Pangea supports Caribbean retail… – News – Mobile News

The IoT provider is aiming to support the Caribbean tourism industry, estimated to be worth £42bn

Pangea has teamed up with Trinidad-based partner Starnet to support retailers in the Caribbean with with mobile Electronic Point-of-Sale (ePOS) solutions.

The move will see the islands become more cashless, as ePOS solutions will help minimise contact, as shops, hotels, restaurants across the region open back up.

According to Pangea, the solution will allow locals overcome difficult terrain and tough seasonal weather to stay connected.

Starnet is using up to 7,700 SIMs provided by Pangea to support businesses in reopening.

Starnet is able to connect to the strongest network at any location with multi-network SIMs provided by Pangea.

Future-proofed

The solution is also future-proofed against if networks start or stop covering certain spots, while the mobile ePOS devices are protected against outages.

In this instance if a network drops due a storm for example, the devices’ will pick up the network with the next strongest connection.

All SIMs delivered by Pangea were active and ready to go, but the IoT specialists didn’t begin billing Starnet, until Starnet used the free data allowance to check everything is working, before sending them out to their customers.
